Leo Powell sits at an ITBF panel.

With his background in the worlds of racing, bloodstock and equestrianism, Leo Powell is in constant demand as a Master of Ceremonies, public speaker and chairing panels at conferences.

He is perhaps best known for his role on stage for the annual Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association national awards, held in the spring of each year. In addition to introducing each of the 14 or so award winners, he also interviews the main recipients, including the annual inductee to the Hall of Fame.

During his time presenting this prestigious event, the highlight of the industry’s year, Powell has introduced many illustrious winners of the Hall of Fame award. They include His Highness The Aga Khan, Coolmore Stud’s John Magnier, and JP McManus.

Over the years Powell has had the honour of introducing such luminaries as President Mary McAleese, Irish Taoisigh (Prime Ministers), Government ministers, and most of the leading lights in the world of horse racing and breeding.
